Hester Stallard, 90, Kingsport, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday November 3, 2007 surrounded by her family.
She was born the daughter of the late Maude and Riley Hamm in Ashe County, NC.
Mrs. Stallard had been a homemaker; residing at Lutheran Home East in Hickory, NC, for several years. She passed away at Pallative Care and Hospice in Hickory, NC.
Hester was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She taught her children about the Lord early in life; not only by maintaining an active church life, but also by daily example. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed seeing her creations worn by those she lovingly made them for.
While a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Kingsport, she was active in WMU and a group for the young single ladies. She and her husband were instrumental in organizing CHBC in Kingsport. She was active in WMU and organized the Girls Auxiliary program at the church. She served on many committees and was a willing servant anywhere she was needed.
In her days at the nursing home, she learned to do plastic canvas needlework and loved to share the things she made with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Otto Stallard and a daughter, Mary Lou Hamm.
Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Ruthie Smith of Marion, VA, and Jeanie Minor of Newton, NC; granddaughters, Tracy Smith, Marion, VA, Rebecah Isenhour and husband, Barett, Hickory, NC, and Christie Carroll and husband, Matthew, Hickory, NC; and two great-grandsons, Tristan and Cole Isenhour. There are also extended family members living in the VA, TN, and NC areas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Bob McNew and Rev. Jim Royston officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
