Hisel Hensley, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at his home after an extended illness.
Hisel was born in Scott County, VA, and resided in the Bloomingdale community most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany from 1954 to 1956. He retired from Meade Paper, and enjoyed fishing, bowling, and most of all, working outside on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Winstead Hensley married 26 years, and his parents, Ingle and Iris Hensley.
Hisel is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bettye Sauceman Hensley, of Kingsport; a daughter, Christy Bowlin, also of Kingsport; a son, Charles Hensley and wife, Trish, Kingsport; stepson, Jonathan Sauceman and wife, Linda, Greeneville, TN; granddaughters, Shelby Hensley and Christy Moore and husband, Dustin; grandsons, Chris Bowlin and Zack Hensley; great-grandson, Brock Moore; great-granddaughter,
Tehya Moore; sister, Wilma Brooks and husband, Don, Gate City, VA; special cousins, J.C. "Buck" Hensley and Mabel Hensley; and many other friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Services will follow at 8:00, with Pastor Stanley Sims officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Travis Jackson, Chris Bowlin, Zack Hensley, Jimmy Jones, Todd Broughton, David Ketron, Buck Hensley, and Randy Moore.
