BOLD PRINT: Hobert "Papoo" Davis
Hobert Harold Davis, 87, Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Lee County, VA, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Davis was founder of Davis Sanitation Service.
He was of the Baptist faith.
His parents, Grover and Myrtle Davis, four sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Louise Davis, of the home; two daughters, Glenda Hofer and husband Joe, Jacksonville, FL; and Zelda Ridgeway and husband Nathan, Kingsport, TN; five grandchildren, Tracy Duncan and husband David, Candi Harker and husband Oris, Leanne Hannah and husband Tommy, Nicky Ridgeway, Adrienne Molten and husband Barry; nine great-grandchildren, Sam and Will Duncan, Jordan and Duncan Harker, Lauren and Terralyn Pulley, Joey, Hunter, and Anthony Molteni; sister, Mary Cody, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 4-6:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
Pallbearers are Frank Duncan, Jay Duncan, Lee Henderson, Mike Duke, Buddy Duke, and Cecil Thorpe.
Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the V.F.W.
