Hollis B. Copeland, 83, Mountain Home, TN, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning May 6, 2007 at James H. Quillen Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Copeland was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. Hollis was a graduate of Berea College and worked as a chemist in the Chattanooga area for several years. He later served as an educator, teaching in high schools in Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Louetta Copeland; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are his daughters, Beth Bragg and husband, Tony, Kingsport, and Gayle Hixson and husband, Barney, Chattanooga; son, David Copeland and wife, Nancy, Chattanooga; six grandchildren, Paige Taylor, Todd Bragg, Chad Brown, Stephanie Hixson, Jim Copeland, and Bill Copeland; three great-grandchildren, Macy Taylor, Cameron Taylor, and Aleq Bragg; one sister, Dr. Ethelda Atchley, Scottsboro, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Kenneth W. LaDuke officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post 3382 of the VFW.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
