Howard A. Sivert

Howard A. Sivert, 92, Kingsport, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Howard was born in Gate City, VA where he graduated from Gate City High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. Following his military service he began working at Holston Defense and transferred to Eastman where he worked until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as Financial Secretary for many years. Howard loved Tuesday morning golfing with his church buddies and U.T. football games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Dewey Sivert.

Howard is survived by his wife, Margaret Sivert of the home; 2 daughters, Patricia (Pat) Sivert Cox and husband, Carl of Kingsport, and Brenda Sivert Scott and husband, David of Mansfield, TX; 2 grandsons, Jonathan Scott and wife, Paula, and Benjamin Cox; great-grandson, Jameson Scott; brother, James Sivert and wife, Jacqueline of Bartlett,TN; sister-in-law, Opal Gose of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special nephew, Mike Sivert and wife, Claudette.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday at First Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Minister Phip Sams officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sivert, Brett Sivert, Casey Sivert, Chip Gose, Chris Gose, Benjamin Cox and Jonathan Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be the JOY Class, Cliffe (Gus) Godsey, Paul Godsey, Joe Fuller and John Fuller.
