Howard C. "Hame" Crawford, 76, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a heart attack.
He was of the Baptist faith, loved fox hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan who never met a stranger. He retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department in the late 70s due to his health.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Pullman Crawford and father, Arthur Crawford, five brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Lois Lochiel Bowser Crawford; two sisters, Nora Belle Morelock and Irene Ramey, both of Indianapolis, IN; one brother, Rass Page Crawford of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law and nephew, Judy White and Doug Crawford.
The family will receive friends any time at 818 Oak Street, Apartment 348 and from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Lewis Meade officiating. Music will be provided by the Heavenly Reflections.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Light Family Cemetery in Rogersville. Pallbearers will be Wayne Simpson, Fred Bowser, Jimmy Bowser, Doug Crawford, Tim Fletcher, Virgil Arnold, Ray Cavin, Jeff Meade, and Doug Baskette.
