Howard Elias Hensley, Jr

Howard Elias Hensley, Jr., 79, of Blountville, passed away February 15, 2010, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Howard graduated from Sullivan High School. After high school, he spent 25 years in the U.S. Navy retiring in 1972. He later returned to school and received his Bachelors Degree from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Howard then began his second career as an accountant. After the death of his wife, he returned to his home in East Tennessee.

Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirty years, Betty Jo Boyd Hensley; parents, Howard E. Hensley, Sr. and Laura Hill Hensley; brothers, Wayne Hensley, Bruce Hensley, William Hensley, Ralph Hensley, and Ray Hensley; and sisters, Cora Pauline Castle and Iva McAmis.

He is survived by his daughters, Laura Hensley and husband Brent Brazier of Los Angeles, CA, and Alice Pope of Johnson City; granddaughters, Ansley Pope, Mary Alice Pope, and Casey Brazier; sister, Louise Harrison, Asheboro, NC; brother, Paul Hensley, Mountain Home, AR; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Howard's neighbors, Lynn and Sandra Crowe.
