Howard Lloyd Ketron, 85, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on December 26, 2015 at Indian Path Hospital after a brief illness. Howard was born in Scott County, Virginia on December 22, 1930 to Lloyd and Myrtle (Davidson) Ketron. He moved to Kingsport at an early age residing in the Bloomingdale community. Howard retired from AFG after 37 years of service and was a member of the United Steelworkers union. He was an ardent Tennessee Walking Horse owner for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy Howard; brother, Edsel Ketron; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elma and Opal Ketron and Talmadge (Tom) and Billie Ketron.
Howard is survived by his wife, Janie; son, Jerry and wife Anita of Mount Carmel; daughter, Joy Ketron of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Jamie West and Katrina Bellamy-Hill, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of Kingsport; sister, Ethel Ketron; brother, Frank and wife Betty; half-brother, Jacob Ketron; two half-sisters, Rebecca Fields and Rachel Bond, all of Kingsport; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law, along with several nieces and nephews.
At his request, a graveside service only will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Amos officiating.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and therapists at Mountain States Home Care and ICU staff at Indian Path Medical Center.
