Howard "Cordell" McCulley, 88, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Asbury Place Kingsport. Born in Kingsport, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Julia Kate Roller McCulley. Cordell served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. New Orleans. When health allowed he loved collecting and refinishing antiques, and gardening, raising tomatoes and beans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ollivene Isaac and Hattie Kate Bragg, and brother, Lloyd McCulley.
Cordell is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn M. McCulley; daughter, Sherry A. McCulley; two sons, John McCulley, and David L. McCulley and wife, Sheila; three grandchildren, Susan Webb and husband, Aaron, Melissa Ruffo and husband, Bryan, and Rebecca Sandoval and husband, Jorge; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:30-1:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with Pastor Phil Goins officiating.
The burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
