Howard Lee Nelms, 56, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, May 28, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Howard was born on August 21, 1952 in Kingsport and was a self-employed roofer. He was of the Baptist faith.
His father, George Nelms; mother, Lucille Guy; stepfather, Ted Guy; and two brothers, Robert Nelms and Jerry Guy preceded him in death.
He is survived by his fiancée, Kay; sister, Cathy Sharp, Nashville; half-sister, Shirley Guy, Nashville; two brothers, Ralph Nelms and wife Barbara Olinger Nelms and Tommy Nelms, all of Kingsport; half-brother, Teddy Lee Guy of Nashville.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
