Howard Edward Payne, 42, of Bristol, VA, died Sunday January 22, 2012 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Arlington, VA, on June 3, 1969, Edward spent the early years of his life living overseas in Italy and Panama. By the time he returned to the United States to live in southwest Virginia, Edward was fluent in English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish.
He graduated from Appalachia High School in Appalachia, VA, and attended Clinch Valley College in Wise. He then moved to Bristol where he worked for Valley Dale.
Edward subsequently began an apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 0934 and became a journey wireman electriciana"later going on to teach classes for the IBEW. He traveled extensively through his work, including IL, IN, OH, WV, GA, TN, and VA. Edward always believed in safety first on the job.
He loved cooking, good food, anda"most of alla"riding his Harley.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Payne, and father, Howard Payne; an aunt, Alice Caldwell and uncle, Daniel Payne; several cousins, 3 great aunts, and one great uncle.
The family will receive friends Thursday January 26, 2012 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Graveside services will be Saturday at noon in East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery should meet at Hamlett-Dobson at 11 a.m.
