H.T. "Bud" Brickey

H.T. "Bud" Brickey, 79, Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and had retired from East Tennessee Natural Gas in 1994 following 29 ½ years of service. Bud was of the Holiness Faith. He enjoyed playing music, softball, hunting and fishing. Bud was actively volunteering at Bays Mountain as part of the fishers for otters and cleaning trails.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Bishop Brickey, four sisters and three brothers.

Bud is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Dean Brickey of Kingsport; 6 daughters, Kathy Stout and husband, Junior of Kingsport, Vickie McCracken and husband, Kennith of Church Hill, Freda Sampson of Weber City, VA, Tammy McCracken and husband, Glenn of Fall Branch, Vivian McCrary and husband, Rick of Chuckey, and Robin Reed and husband, Rick of Kingsport; special nephew, Cecil Ferguson and wife, Faye of Kingsport; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 3 brothers; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend and fishing buddy, Elmer Arnold of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport or at the home of his daughter, Robin Reed. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with sons-in-law, Pastor Glenn McCracken and Rick Reed officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 am at Providence Cemetery, Limestone, TN. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
