Hubert Lee Short, 82, of Mount Carmel, went to his Heavenly home late Friday evening, April 25, 2008 following a brief battle with cancer.
Hubert was born in Sullivan County and had resided in Mount Carmel for the past 48 years. He loved NASCAR and racing.
Hubert was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith.
His wife, Colleen Short; and one sister, Mildred Southard preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathryn Roberts of Church Hill; two sons, Ronnie Short and wife Sandy and Michael Short, all of Mount Carmel; six grandchildren, Matthew Roberts, Donna Vermillion, Joshua Short, Jennifer Short, Nathaniel Short, and Mark Roberts; three great-granddaughters, Hannah and Haleigh Roberts and Jenica Vermillion; one sister, Evelyn Kanipe of Indiana; four brothers, Charles Short of Florida, James Short of Kingsport, Donnie Short of Kentucky, and Franklin Short of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wished to says "thank you" to the 3rd floor nursing staff of Wilcox Hall.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and also at the residence of his son, Ronnie Short at 446 Holly Street, Mount Carmel.
Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Evangelist Ronnie Short and Evangelist Matthew Roberts officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Roberts, Joshua Short, Nathaniel Short, Mark Roberts, Daniel Vermillion, and Ivan Bowen.
