Hugh S. Crawford Jr., 67, of the Bloomingdale community, and known by most simply as “Junior” or “Mr. C” went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born on September 2, 1951 and was raised in Fall Branch, TN. He was a standout basketball player and a highly decorated member of the track team at Fall Branch School. He graduated from Daniel Boone High School in 1972, as a part of the school’s first graduating class.
Junior was an auto mechanic his whole life. He began working on cars at the age of 14, and continued to do so at various dealerships and garages until finally opening his own business, Mr. C’s Automotive in Bloomingdale in 1999.
He enjoyed collecting and trading knives and guns, loved hot rods, and enjoyed hanging out at his shop, drinking coffee, reading the newspaper, and just talking to anyone who stopped by. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandson, Kaden, and watching him drag race.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ethel Barnes Crawford; brothers, Elmer “Guy” Crawford and Roy Crawford; sister, Frances Crawford Neal; brother-in-law, Clyde Neal; nephew, Tim Neal; father-in-law, Cecil Head; mother-in-law, Shirley Head; and sister-in-law, Angela Head.
Junior is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra Crawford; daughter, Crystal Haynes and husband, Jason; his grandson, Kaden Haynes, who was his pride and joy; brother and best friend, Leonard Crawford; brother-in-law, Kenneth Head; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a very long list of friends. We also can’t leave out his special “fur babies” who were his constant companions…Sadie, Zuni, Daise, and Turbo.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Randy Lantz officiating.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the 2nd floor and the CICU unit at Holston Valley Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to help with medical bills and funeral costs would be appreciated.
