Ina Lee King

Kingsport - Ina Lee King, Nana, age 90 years, 9 months and 19 days, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Wexford House in Kingsport. Ina Lee and her late husband, Brice, lived several decades in the Bloomingdale community of Kingsport. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for many years where she served in many capacities within her Sunday school class and ladies groups. Mrs. King loved to visit with her Combs and King families.

In addition to her husband, Brice King, she was preceded in death by her grandsons Derrick and Bryan Todd King; by her parents, William and Elnora Martin Combs and the last roll call of the 13 siblings: Lillian Eva "Lillie" Dedo, Esta Mae Arnold, Jesse Herman Combs, James Clifford Combs, Mary Ruth Strong, Wilmetta Jeanette Latham, Mildred Elizabeth Mason, Ellis Monroe Combs, Edna Bernice Neal, William Leonard Combs, Lewis Alfred Combs, Ina Lee Frances King and Pearl Aline Greer. She was the last survivor of the 13 siblings. These brothers and sisters truly practiced Exodus 20:12 "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long on the land which the Lord thy God gives thee."

She is survived by her three children: Elmer Gene King and wife, Starr; Robert Lawrence "Bob" King and wife Mitsey; and, Frankie Adams; four grandchildren: Lori McMurray and husband, Noah; Beth Casey and husband, Tim; Tim King and wife, Becky; and Missy Jones and husband, Mark; four great grandchildren: Kelly Housewright, Josh Frye, Hannah King and Hunter King; and, numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, in the chapel at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, followed by the 7:00 p.m. funeral service with Ina Lee's pastor, Rev. Hobert "Hobbie" M. McCreary, Jr. officiating. The pall bearers will be Mark Jones, Noah McMurray, Kelly Housewright, Tim King, Tim Casey and Mark Frye. Honorary pall bearers will be Wayne Strong, Lewis Combs, Jr., Jim Lyons, Ronnie Taylor and Dwight Church.

Those wishing to attend the burial service on Friday, October 18, should meet at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at 9:45 A. M. The Interment service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Tri Cities Memory Gardens.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mrs. King's caregivers, Lisa Ferrell and Charlotte Phillips, staff at Indian Path Medical Center and staff at Wexford House.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 125 Coley Street, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
