Inez Bennett

Carrie Inez Teague Bennett, 88, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Washington County, TN on June 6, 1926, a daughter of the late William Edward and Carrie Alice Brown Teague, she resided in this area most of her life. She was the owner/operator of Hill Style Shop in Church Hill, TN and retired from Hillman's Dress Shop in Colonial Heights in the mid 90's. Inez was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church where she participated in Live Wires Devotional Program for many years.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, mamaw Inez and friend, who loved being with her family and who always worried about "what are we going to eat."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Katherine Miller, Doris McCracken and Ruth Jennings, and brother, Edward "Abe" Teague.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bob Bennett; children, Michael E., Grubbs and wife, Mary Ruth of Church Hill, Susan Grubbs Freeman of Church Hill, and Steven T. Grubbs and wife, Nadine of Stewartsville, MO: seven grandchildren, Emily Cornett and husband Kurt, Ethan Calhoun and wife, Jennifer, Tequesse Grubbs, Ryon Grubbs and wife, Casie, Camille Grubbs, Zach Grubbs and Heath Cox; and six great-grandchildren, Kain and Kreid Cornett, Lijah and Adelyn Calhoun, and Mattie Lu and Lucy Kate Grubbs.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees and friends at Preston Place Suites.

An inurnment service will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium. The memorial service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 pm with The Rev. Mickey Rainwater, The Rev. Jack P. Weikel and Joy Eastridge, Parish Nurse officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the parlor.
