Ira Collins

I.T. Collins, Jr., 80, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007.

He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, Duke Law School, and was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. I. T. was an Assistant District Attorney for 10 years prior to retiring after 30 years of practice.

His parents, I.T. and Cecelia Collins; and a sister, Genevieve Linebarger, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, June Collins, Kingsport; two daughters, Allison Weaver and husband, Jay, Somerville, Massachusetts, Erica Adams and husband, Dillard, Nashville; two sons, Matthew Collins and wife, Paula, Knoxville, Christopher Collins and wife, Ginger, Albany, Oregon; ten grandchildren, Mattie Mechem, Stewart Mechem, Trip Adams, Taylor Adams, Ally Adams, Lydia Collins, Lauren Collins, Morgan Collins, Hadley Collins, Sadie Collins; and two step-grandchildren, Daniel Weaver and Ali Weaver.

The family will receive friends any time at the home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Angela Cross officiating.
