Irene Bullis Doran

Irene "Granny" Doran, 87, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 29, 2008 following a lengthy illness.

Granny was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and her life was a testimony of her faith in God.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Hatcher Doran; son, Jack Preston Doran; daughter, Mary Irene Reed; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are four granddaughters, Annette Berg and husband Scott of LaPorte, IN, Angel Todosijevic and husband Ed of Valto, IN, Sharon Tull and husband John of Portage, IN, and Kathy Gilbert of Kingsport; two grandsons, Ricky Gilbert and wife Becky, Scotty Gilbert and wife Janie, all of Kingsport; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Leila Belle Houser and husband J. D. of Kingsport; special friends, Bob and Pat Gilmore and Chris Doran; and Granny's namesake, Rachel Gilbert Meyers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert "Bob" Gilmore officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Barton Gilbert, William Gilbert, Will Gilbert, Clint Meyers, Larry Houser, and Todd Saylor.
