Irene McNabb Wiley

Irene McNabb Wiley peacefully departed this life, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 12, 2016. She had recently celebrated her ninetieth birthday. She was born in Cocke County and lived her entire life in Upper East Tennessee. The fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ at her church has been a constant support and comfort over the years. In addition to making a home for her family, Irene served many years in elementary education, including public and Christian schools. She found joy in serving her Lord by uplifting, encouraging and praying for others. Her home was where the family gathered to celebrate all the important milestones, including birthdays, holidays, going- away and welcome- home parties.

She was the daughter of Ben and Lucy McNabb. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Wiley; and one granddaughter.

Irene is survived by four children, Donald (Julianne), Linda Miller (Gregg), Anna Margaret Wagner (Randall), and Janis Baker (James); seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth McNabb (Edythe Nelle), one of her six siblings. The family also appreciates the love and devotion of her next door neighbors, Sue and Greg Rasmussen.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bible Baptist Church, 246 Hilton St, Kingsport, TN 37663. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church with Pastor Don McCann officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Union Cemetery, Newport, TN.

Pallbearers will be Frank Miller, Mark Miller, Ben Wiley, Nathan Baker, Ben Mellons, and Ben McNabb.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 5756, Kingsport, TN 37663.
