Irma Lee Jones Rowland

Irma Lee Jones Rowland passed away Tuesday July 26, 2011 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.

Born in Clinchport, VA, she was the daughter of the late J.R.C. and Martha Barrett Jones.

Mrs. Rowland was affiliated with Wheeler United Methodist Church, St. Matthew United Methodist Church, and Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church.

She was very active in crafts, quilting, gardening, and camping. At different times in her life she volunteered with Methodist Hospital in Kentucky. Irma was a housewife and worked at various businesses outside the home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Rowland, Sr., seven brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Rowland, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Bristol, David B. Rowland and his wife, Beverly of Columbia, KY; a daughter, Linda Green and her husband, Jerry of Henderson, KY; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Bradley and her husband, George, of Kingsport; and four sisters-in-law, Katherine Decker and her husband, John, Elizabeth Jones, Margaret Jones, Frances Fulkerson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. W. Dennis Griffith officiating.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
