Ivy Simpson

Ivy Simpson, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus to his new home after a brief illness at Wellmont Holston Valley on September 18, 2011 with his two daughters holding his hands.

He was born on September 24th, 1937 to the late Wilford Ivy and Iona Simpson. Ivy lived his entire life in the Sullivan Gardens Community and was a graduate of Sullivan West High School. He retired in 1995 from Sears after over 32 years of service. Ivy attended Solomon's Temple Baptist Church and had accepted Jesus as his savior on January 9th, 2004. He was a member of the Elmcroft Assisted Living Church where he sang in the choir.

Ivy was well known and loved by many people and will be greatly missed by his friends and family, especially his daughters, Tonya and Kim. We love you daddy.

He is now with our Mother, the love of his life, Barbara Simpson, who preceded him in death February 2004. Also preceding in death were his two brothers, Donald Simpson and Paul Simpson; sister-in-law, Mable Louise Simpson; nieces, Sharon Simpson Patterson and Kristen Simpson Meyer.

Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Honaker and husband Greg of Kingsport, Tonya and Joe Wolfe of Church Hill; granddaughter, Megan Honaker; brother, Toy Earl Simpson and wife Karen; sister Ofa Hicks; sister-in-law Dorothy Simpson; niece Glenda Wright; nephews Scott and Tony Simpson; special nephew and his buddy Donald "Wayne" Simpson, all of Kingsport; several great-nieces and nephews; his family at Elmcroft Assisted Living.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20th from 5-8:00 pm. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Services will be on Wednesday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Rev. Clarence Bear officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be nephews and family.

Thank you to Geneva, Lindsay and especially Melissa in the ICU for the compassion and care you gave to our daddy.
