J. C. Crawford, 78, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Kingsport where he had lived his entire life. J. C. retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department and attended Gospel Mission Church.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Pauline Crawford; a son, Roy Crawford; and several brothers and sisters.
J. C. is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert White, Rogersville, Mary and Mike McGuire, Kingsport, Joyce and Andy Elliott, Kingsport, Sandra and Steve Head, Rogersville, Misty ?Michelle?and Shannon Cavin, Rogersville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Hope Crawford, Kingsport, Lynn and Kim Crawford, Kingsport; ten grandchildren, Justin and Michael White, Shane and Brandon Crawford, Brandi and Randi Crawford, Cassie and Dustin Crawford, Ashley Head, Emily Cavin; eight step-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Ramey, Indianapolis, Indiana, Nora Bell Morelock, Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers, Rass Crawford and Howard Crawford, both of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the nurses of W-3 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch or anytime at the home of his daughter Joyce Elliott. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Lewis Meade and Evangelist Shelton Meade officiating. Rev. Orville Dolen will serve as honorary minister.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Light Cemetery in Fall Branch.
