J. Wayne Reynolds, 85, Kingsport, passed away at Indian Path Medical Center on Friday August 3, 2012 after a long illness.
He was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church where he sang in the choir for many years.
Wayne was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific and sang in the Navy Central Choir at Great Lakes. He was a graduate of ETSU and Ohio State with a Masters Degree in Chemistry. He worked at Eastman for 34 years. Wayne was a member of the American Chemical Society, American Legion Hammond Post #3, and Kings Mountain Sons of the American Revolution.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bonnie Reynolds; and three brothers, Blaine, Glen and Henry.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Reynolds; one son, Paul Reynolds and wife Debbie, Kingsport; one daughter, Patricia Hess, Clinton, TN; four grandchildren, Joe and Katie Reynolds, Garrett and Beth Hess; three sisters-in-law, Virginia, Lorene and Margaret Reynolds; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 5 p.m. with Marlin S. Jaynes, Jr., Minister officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Reynolds Family Cemetery in Elizabethton with military rites by the American Legion Hammond Post #3.
