Jack Clark Ruth, 82, Kingsport, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Jasper, VA on May 26, 1933, he resided in Kingsport his entire life. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1951. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. He was a florist at White Floral for several years and retired from Rental Uniform after 20 years. Jack enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them at sporting events and other activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarcie Clark and John William Ruth, and infant son, Timothy Mark Ruth.
Jack is survived by his son, Craig Ruth and wife, Kim; daughter, Lesa Haynes and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Lauren and Blake Ruth; brother, Garland Ruth and wife, Lorraine; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his loving and devoted companion, Judy King.
A special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Brookdale Rock Springs and Amedysis Hospice for their support, compassion and dedication.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Pastor Tim Hodges officiating.
The inurnment service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
