Jack Clevinger, 89 of Kingsport, died Monday night, October 23, 2023, at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Grundy, VA, and had resided in this area since 1956. He graduated from William King High School in Abingdon, VA and attended ETSU. Jack served in the U.S. Army at Thule, Greenland (North Pole). He was owner, president, and C.E.O. of Kingsport Iron and Metal for 50 years. Jack had a 19-year retirement career as a Real Estate agent with Century 21 and Keller Williams. He was a longtime active Elder of Grace Christian Church.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Flossie Clevinger; stepfather, Carter Meade; son-in-law, LeRoy Hardee; and stepbrother, Tommy Meade.
Survivors are his wife, Shirley Clevinger of the home; daughter, Cindy Clevinger Hardee; son, Ed Clevinger and wife, Vicki; brother, Ernest “Red” Clevinger and wife, Charlotte; nephew, Anthony “Tony” Clevinger; niece, Julia Chatman; several cousins and a special cousin, Sandy Renner.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Christian Church with Dr. Ed Clevinger, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service, in the church fellowship hall.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ernest “Red” Clevinger, Eddie Bledsoe, Frank Marsh, Kevin Marsh, Robert Thompson, Gary Beverly and Joe Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Grace Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Christian Church, 1713 E. Sevier Ave., Kingsport, TN 37664.
