Jack Fleetwood Willis, 70, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Monday morning, April 23, 2012 after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1959, which included "private instruction" from Principal Dr. Elery Lay. Jack was a graduate of ETSU with a major in economics in 1964. He was self-employed as a home builder for many years and as the owner of Accurate Home Inspections in his later years. Jack was President, State Delegate, and a member of the Home Builders Association in Kingsport. He was Builder of the Year in 1977. Jack was a volunteer with Contact Concern for 27 years. Jack and Phyllis are owners of Jackie's Shiver Shack in Colonial Heights. He married his best friend, Phyllis Neal July 11, 1963. They would have soon celebrated their 49th anniversary.
Jack had many loves, the first being his wife and best friend, Phyllis, his daughters and their spouses and his nine grandsons, who were his pride and joy. He also loved his church, First Baptist Church of Kingsport, where he was a lifelong member. He enjoyed reading, traveling, camping and history.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Effie Willis and his sister, Jimmie Collean Willis McClain.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Neal Willis; four daughters, Ginny Crawford and husband, Jerry of Church Hill, Jackie Seto and husband, Jeff of Kingsport, Candace Macfarlane and husband, Rob of Bristol; and Amanda Lokar and husband, Bill of Lynchburg, VA; grandsons, Zachary Crawford, Justin, James, Jeffrey and Joshua Seto, Jack and Max Macfarlane, Jake and Bradley Lokar; sisters, Odean Hargis and Shirley Marshall, both of Florida; brother, Ray Willis of Kingsport; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26th, 2012 at 6:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Kingsport with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Dr. Ron Davis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at anytime at their home.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, April 27th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Jerry Crawford, Jeff Seto, Robert Macfarlane and Bill Lokar, and brothers-in-law, Grady Moore, III and John Griffith.
