Jackie Lee Barr

Jackie Lee Barr, 71, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born, April 14, 1943, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Jackie was a son of the late Edison T. and Grace Davis Barr. Jackie graduated from Ketron High School in 1961. Mr. Barr worked for Blackburn News Agency and ANCO for a total of 40+ years prior to his retirement. He was a Christian and attended Orebank Missionary Baptist Church. Jackie was an avid Vols fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Pruitt.

Jackie is survived by his sister, Peggy Lukach of Kingsport; brother, Larry Barr and wife, Betty of Gray; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday at 12:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Preacher Clint Andrews officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookhaven Manor and Amedysis Hospice for the care given to Jackie. Also a special thanks to friends and neighbors for their assistance.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd., Ste 102, Johnson City, TN 37601, in Jackie's memory.
