Jaimie "Madelyn" Jeffries, of Kingsport, went peacefully to be with the Lord on December 2, 2012, while at home with her family. After 19 years of brightening our days, Madelyn has been lifted by God's hands to run and laugh in the kingdom of heaven.
Madelyn was born on June 23, 1993, in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and grew up in Kingsport, TN, where she was a graduate of Sullivan South High School.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Robert Heston Richmond.
She is survived by her loving parents, James Samuel and Kathleen Richmond Jeffries; sister and brother-in-law, Samantha Christine and Kevin Todd Pittman; maternal grandmother, Virginia McAfee Richmond; paternal grandfather, Charles Hugh Jeffries; paternal grandmother, Lena Mae Jeffries and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, who will all miss her dearly.
Madelyn was a special gift from God. She loved laughing, movies, birthdays, practical jokes and especially her family. She taught those around her about strength, grace and abounding love. Her bright blue eyes and enormous smile brought light and joy to every room. From loving family to caring friends and church family, Madelyn touched our lives and made us better people for having known her.
Madelyn's family would like to thank her lifelong nurses, caregivers and friends, Ms. Joy, Ms. Alma, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Lynn, Ms. JoAnn, Whitney and Vickie. You enriched Madelyn's life and will continue to be an important part of our family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-2:00 p.m. at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church 3200 Glen Alpine Road, Sullivan Gardens. A service to celebrate Madelyn's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale M. Gilbert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madelyn's name to Small Miracles Therapeutic Equestrian Center, 1026 Rock Springs Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664.
