James Daniel Adams, 71, Kingsport, passed away early Monday morning at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness. His friends and employees knew him as "Dan."
Dan was born in Wise County, VA and lived and worked in the Washington, D.C. area, moving to a farm in the Mendota area of Scott County, Virginia in 1976. A lifelong entrepreneur, he worked in the printing industry, and later founded Inove Graphics, where he worked until his retirement. Dan grew tobacco and corn on his cattle farm. He was a Democrat with solid country values and enjoyed driving tractors and trucks around his farm property and hosting gatherings in his custom "party barn."
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Vernon and Melvina Adams, who successfully raised foster boys for decades; brothers Joseph and Charles Adams and Kingsport resident Jack Adams who worked for Dan over the years; an infant sister; and son-in-law and Inove employee, James Wolfe.
Dan is survived by his former wife, Gail Adams of Kingsport; three daughters, Christina Adams and husband, Tony Page of Laguna Beach, CA; Trisha Osborne and husband, Eric of Kingsport, TN, and Dana Wolfe of Kingsport, TN; three grandsons, Andrew Osborne, Justin Osborne and Jackson Anthony; brothers Dean and Dan Randolph, nephew Joe Adams, cousin Dennis Adams, and many other close relatives, business and farming friends.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 10th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm.
Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, October 11th at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
