James Buford Boatright, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the age of 92.
He was born and grew up in Fort Blackmore, VA and graduated from Dungannon High School in 1937. Mr. Boatright was employed as a machinist in the S & M Division of Eastman Kodak for over 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Kingsport for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Brainard Boatright; parents, Homer C. Boatright and Elnora Quillen Boatright; 2 sisters, Pauline B. Quillen and Mabel B. Wing.
Surviving are his brother, Robert F. Boatright, Kingsport; 3 nieces, Carolyn B. Allen, Kingsport, Evelyn B. Adams, Gray and Linda B. Olivieri, Sarasota, FL; 2 nephews, Fred I. Quillen, Lansdale, PA and J. Robert Boatright, Kingsport; 7 great-nieces; 3 great-nephews; special caregivers, Michelle Storie and Jorita Plowman.
The family will receive friends 10:30am to 11:30am Tuesday, September 14, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 11:30am in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be J. Robert Boatright, Brian F. Boatright, Brian K. Partin and Jackie R. Kilday. Honorary pallbearers are Fred I. Quillen and Jerry M. Allen.
