James "Jim" F. Bronson

James "Jim" F. Bronson, 79, Kingsport passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015. A native of Rockaway, NJ, Jim was born January 10, 1936, the son of the late George M. and Minnie I. Houck Bronson. He married his high school sweetheart July 2, 1955. Jim worked for 33 years at Merck Pharmaceuticals & Company in Rahway, NJ as a lab technician, retiring in 1991 as a senior quality control inspector.

In 1957 Jim became an amateur radio operator, K2YSR. He was very active in radio clubs in NJ, Greenfield, MA, and more recently in Kingsport/Bays Mountain where he was a past president. His hobbies included photography, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and stained glass. He was an avid woodworker and metallurgist. Jim was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, George E. and John E. Bronson.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois V. Sisco Bronson; 5 children, James R. Bronson and wife, Laura of Broken Arrow, OK, Nancy J. Antonitis of Chelmsford, MA, Laura J. Kirchhof of Leland, NC, Karen L. Almany and husband, David of Kingsport; and David L. Bronson of Kingsport; 15 grandchildren, Betsy, Kenneth, Raymond, Leanne, Jamie, August, Kayleigh, Andrew, Alex, Sara, David, Steven, Yvonne, Calvin and Douglas; 12 great-grandchildren; and special sister-in-law, Joyce Bronson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3-5:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Rev. Thomas Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Knowles, Raymond Kirchhof, David Almany, Bill Bronson, David Stevens and James Stallard.
