James Harold Cain, 80, of Fall Branch, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born in Wise County, VA, the son of the late, Poley and Mary Butler Cain, he lived in Kingsport for 32 years and had been a resident of Fall Branch since 1983. Mr. Cain served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. He was also a member of Johnson Masonic Lodge #274 of Fall Branch and a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Sullivan County Scottish Rites Club; and a member of the Woodmen of the World Poplar Camp #792.
Mr. Cain was employed at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home for 15 years and worked for Rental Uniform Company for 22 years, where he retired in 1987.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Odle Cain; grandson, Matthew Larkins; sisters, Faye Hinkle, Virginia Ruth Smith, and Viola Lois Hedrick; and special friend, Glenna Morelock.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Christian and husband Terry of Bradenton, FL, and Mary Ann Larkins of Kingsport; three sisters, Wanda Louise Alterio of Barberton, OH, Carrie Marie "Sally" Blanton of Norton, VA, and Brenda Sue Hansel of Prosperity, NC; two brothers, Robert Eugene Cain of Fall Branch and Charles Leslie Cain of Fredericksburg, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his special best friend and buddy, his dog, "Babe".
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch and any time at the home.
Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. George Odle and Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gunnings Cemetery with military rites by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
