James "Jim" Carmack, 80, died May 29, 2010 at his home in Chuckey TN.
The son of Elijah and Mary Ethel Carmack, Jim was born September 23, 1929 in Yellowhead, IL. His family returned to Greene County where Jim spent his childhood on a farm in Chuckey, TN. Jim worked as a pressman in various places in the country during his life.
He returned to his family home in the mid 1980's where Jim continued working in the printing business at Franklin Printing in Kingsport TN. It was then that he met his loving companion Anna "Jimmie" Helton. They enjoyed several years together until her passing in January of this year.
Mr. Carmack was a member of the Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Chuckey, TN. In addition to his parents and companion Jimmie Helton; Mr. Carmack was preceded in death by one brother, William Maurice Carmack; and by Michael Steven Harless whom he considered a son.
Surviving are those he knew as family: son, David Harless and wife, Jeanne; daughter, Nancy Fender and husband, Roger; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00pm Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Willis officiating.
