James M. Cooper

James M. Cooper passed away on September 28, 2013, at Indian Path Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Cooper was born on February 27, 1917, in Kingsport, TN, and lived in Kingsport his entire life. He was the son of John M. and Ida Morris Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Abbott Cooper.
Mr. Cooper is survived by a son, John, and his wife, Lynne Eickholt of Boston, MA, and a daughter, Linda and her husband, Jim Rochester of Kingsport, TN.

He attended Dobyns-Bennett High School and after graduation attended National Business College in Roanoke, VA. Upon graduation from college, he was employed by First National Bank of Kingsport. He retired from the bank in 1982 as Senior Vice President and Comptroller after 44 years of service.

Mr. Cooper was an army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Kingsport.

He was former member of the Kingsport Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club. He was a charter member of the Oakwood Forest Christian Church.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Oakwood Forest Christian Church. The funeral service will follow with Ed Clevinger, Minister, and Marlin Jaynes, Minister, officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on October 1, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood Forest Christian Church at 1713 E. Sevier Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37664.
