James D. Copas

James D. Copas, 78, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Kingsport, he had resided here all of his life. He retired from Raytheon and attended Christ Fellowship Church. James was a 32nd Degree Mason, having been a member of the Kingsport Lodge No. 688 for 50 years. He was also a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Revil Copas.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy Copas; daughter, Tina Morton and fiancé, Don F. Jordan, Jr.; son, Christopher Copas and wife, Diane; 2 granddaughters, Haylea Copas and Holly Brooke Morton; brother, Bobby D. Copas; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were private.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Church.
