James ?Jim? Herman Gass, 83, Kingsport, died Thursday morning, May 31, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Jim lived in Kingsport most of his life and retired as a security guard from Holston Defense. He was of the Apostolic faith and attended several churches in Kingsport.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Josephine Russell Gass; an infant son, Fred Odell Gass; and parents, Newt and Letheal Gass.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Shirley R. Smith and husband J. D. Smith; one nephew, Anthony J. Smith and wife, Audra; one niece, Teresa J. Chaffin and Randall; one grandnephew, Dustin B. Chaffin, all of Kingsport; several cousins from Greeneville, TN; and special friends, Ken and Linda Talley, Johnson City.
The family would like to send thanks to a special friend, Eugene Cookenour for his prayers and faithfulness in the visitation of Jim.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Eugene Cookenour officiating.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
