James H. "Harry" Dobbins, 78, of Blountville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his residence. Harry was a native of Weaverville, NC and had resided in Kingsport for more than 40 years. Prior to becoming a truck driver for Consolidated Freightway, he was an employee of A&P Grocery. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Louise Dobbins, and granddaughter, Holly Dobbins.
Harry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Selma Hensley Dobbins; daughter, Susan Dobbins of North Carolina; and brother, Bobby Dobbins and wife, Betty of North Carolina.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12:30pm on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Family and friends will depart at 1:20pm to travel in procession to the cemetery for a 2:00 pm graveside service at Gunnings Cemetery, 4911 Highway 126, Blountville, TN. His friend, Roger Poore will deliver a eulogy. Masonic rites will be conducted by Whiteside Masonic Lodge #13 F & AM. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jaishankar and staff of the Regional Cancer Center of Johnson City and all those who assisted in the care of Harry.
