James William Horne, Jr., 82, of Jonesborough, passed away December 18, 2010 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict, drove a milk truck for the Deakins Brothers dairy and was an avid farmer. James will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marsha Faye Horne, parents, Nellie B. and James W. Horne, Sr.; sisters, Mable Nye, Nita Loudermilk, and Ruth Brummit; brothers E.D., Harold L., and Claude W. Horne.
James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Faye Horne of Jonesborough; son, James H. Horne of Jonesborough; granddaughter Tammy Sexton and husband Bobby of Jonesborough; grandson, James H. Horne, Jr. and fiancée Brandy Henley of Rogersville; great-grandchildren, Skylar Sexton, Austin, Camron, Chloe, and Trace Horne; sisters Carrie Woodard of Kingsport, Nancy Black of Kingsport, and Mary Garrett of Jonesborough; brothers Roy L. Horne and wife Joyce of Little Rock, AR, and John C. Horne of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends Tuesday December 21, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Nickels and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating.
Graveside services will be Wednesday December 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Emory UMC Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
