James Howard Everhart, 93, of Kingsport, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Hawkins County and resided in Kingsport since 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a mechanic for Cherokee Motors, then Holston Defense, retiring from the latter in 1986. James had several hobbies; riding his Harley Davidson was his favorite. He also enjoyed bowling, going to the beach with his family, working on clocks, and anything electrical and mechanical. He loved a challenge and he could fix anything.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Huff Everhart; and two brothers, Gene Stewart and Dallas Stewart.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Frances Trent of Clement Falls, OR; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, William L. "Bill" Smith who was with him until the end.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Stout officiating. Military rites will be conducted by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
