James King "Jim" Manley, 92, of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2015, after a brave battle against cancer.
Jim was born on June 27, 1923. He was a member of the "greatest generation" having served in the China-Burma-India theater in World War II and later during the Korean War. Jim worked for Eastman in Kingsport, TN for 40 years. He was actively involved in the local community playing softball for his Eastman group and for Fall Branch. He coached little league baseball for many years. He was an active member of the Fall Branch Ruritan Club, board of Directors of the Fall Branch Fire Department, and election official for Washington County for many years. He was an avid supporter of the University of Tennessee football team and Lady Vols.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Tullie and Fred Manley; three sisters, Mary Lee Hall, Nell Hall, and Beulah Baines; and special cousin, J.B. Whitlock.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois "Sally" Manley; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Paulette of Melbourne, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Kiernan of Sulphur Springs; one grandson, Bryan Manley of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter and husband, Heather and Christopher Williams of Pearl, MS; and two great-grandsons, Finnian and Lochlan Williams.
The family will receive friends at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The graveside services will follow at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family asks that in-lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fall Branch Fire Department, 106 Ruritan Drive, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
