James Lindsey

James C. Lindsey, 86, of Kingsport, TN, passed away at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center on Friday, July 16, 2010. He was born in Lawrenceburg, TN, moved to Chattanooga as a young child, and moved to Kingsport in 1995.

Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot and a navigator. He attended Albright College in Reading, PA, and later graduated from UTC. He was an engineer at Cavalier Corporation in Chattanooga, retiring as Director of Engineering in 1984 after 39 years of service.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport, Past Master of Hixson Masonic Lodge, Hixson, TN, a Past Patron of Hixson Chapter #310 and of Liberty #198 Order of the Eastern Star. At the time of his death he was serving as Worthy Patron of Liberty Chapter. He was a York Rite and a Scottish Rite Mason.

Jim enjoyed his family, golf, traveling, and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his son. James C. Lindsey, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Alsup Lindsey; daughters, Janet Lindsey Farley, Chattanooga, and Julia Tucker Savage and husband, Steve, Chapel Hill, NC; grandsons, Chipper Farley and wife, Dana, Jamie Farley and wife, Mandy, all of Franklin, TN, Tucker Chase McKinney and fiancée, Elizabeth Rowe, Chapel Hill, NC; two great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Lydia; and two great-grandsons, James and Liston.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.

By Jim's request, his body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 West Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660, or to Wellmont Hospice, Wilcox Hall, Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, 130 W. Ravine Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
