James Michael Linkous

James Michael Linkous, 61 passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. James was born in Rogersville, Tennessee. He loved the outdoors, anything "country", and UT football. He was a kind-hearted soul who had a special place in his heart for animals. He was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a devoted Holston Valley employee for 38 years. His knowledge and skills made him a special mentor to many people during his career. He managed to touch others with his stories, humorous antics, and random acts of kindness. He also was gifted in giving nicknames to almost everyone he encountered. He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel and most recently attended Christ Fellowship Church in Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ross & Melissa Linkous, infant daughter Emily, and nephew Chris Watson.

James is survived by two sons, Michael Ross Linkous and Connor Blake Linkous, eight sisters, Elizabeth Helton (Roy) of Rogersville, Alice Tanner (Charles) of Texas, Louise Birch of Virginia, Ada Gagnon (PJ) of Texas, Janice Dalida of Rogersville, Kathy Lyon (Dave) of Maryland, Ellen Jane Algenzio of Virginia, Margaret Bortell of Florida, and one brother Ross Linkous (Tammy) of Knoxville. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends, Tiffany, Jill, Kayla, Carole, Miss Betty, and two "furry" companions, Jack and Toby.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ER, W2, and W3 for their care and support.
