James Joseph Mitchell

Jimmy Joe Mitchell, 76, of Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his home.  Born in Knoxville, he had resided his entire life in the Harmony Community.  Jimmy Joe was a long time member of Harmony Baptist Church.  He had driven a school bus for 45 years for the Washington County School System.  He also owned and operated his family farm in the Harmony Community. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force. Jimmy Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Hazel Mitchell, his granddaughter Hannah R. Mitchell.

Jimmy Joe is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Arnell Mitchell of the home; two sons Kelly Mitchell and wife Holly, and Brian Mitchell and wife Dana: seven grandchildren, Dakota Mitchell, Gracie Mitchell, Madalyn Darnell, Elijah Darnell, Hadalee Mitchell, Harper Mitchell and Sidney Lane.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Harmony Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 8p.m. at the church with Rev. David Guinn officiating.

 Graveside services will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Cox, Dakota Mitchell, Chris Robbins, David Earles, Chris Jackson and David Short.
