James D. "Jim" Morrell, Sr. 76, of Fall Branch, TN, went home to glory to be with the Lord at 10:06 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at his home while surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born in Rogersville, Tennessee, and worked at Tennessee Eastman Company for 22 years prior to becoming a florist. Jim resided in Erwin, Tennessee, for 30 years where he was co-owner of Mountain View Florist. He moved to Fall Branch in 2002. He was also a radio and T.V. repairman, an avid gardener who loved to raise orchids, and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Coy and Pearl Morrell; and a brother, Robert Charles Morrell.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carol Morrell of the home; two sons, Rev. Charles Richard Morrell and wife Jean of Bristol, TN, Donnie Morrell and wife Teresa of Fall Branch; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lynne Morrell, Jamie Renae Morrell, Crystal Smith, Ricky Morrell; two great-grandchildren; one godchild, Leighann Hunt; a special niece, Brenda Morrell; several other nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Mable Ruth Call of Richmond, VA, and Anita Lois Martin of Daytona Beach, Florida.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch and any time at the home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Baker and Rev. Mac Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Campbell, Floyd Wiley, Donald Ray Birdwell, Ricky Rolen, Henderson Hood, and Gene Frye.
The family extends a special thanks for the exceptional services provided by Mountain States Hospice, the Church Hill E.M.S., Indian Path Dialysis, and Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
