James Larry Owens, 47, Kingsport, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Born in Kingsport, he lived with his father, and traveled with him with the military all over the world. James was a graduate of Fort Campbell High School. Upon meeting his wife, he had resided in Virginia until the last couple of years. He worked as an exterminator until his health prevented his working.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Queenie Owens and daughter, Jaslyn Owens.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Owens, Dale City, VA; one daughter, Staci Pollard, Norfolk, VA; one son, James Owens, Kingsport; his father and stepmother, Robert and Mickey Owens, Kingsport; two sisters, Julie Craig, Fayetteville, NC and Pam Marshall and husband, Ted, Kingsport; three brothers, David Owens and wife, Diane, Old Hickory, TN, Robert Owens II, Kingsport, Sean Owens, Beaufort, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Steele officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
