James "Butch" Rector, 67, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2015. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1965 and then from Northeast State. Butch served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church. Butch was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie Rector.
Butch is survived by his wife, Emogene "Emma" Rector of Kingsport; daughter, Crystal Champ and husband, John of New Market, TN; son, Brian Rector of Kingsport; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Acacia Pruitt, Bryson Rector, Emily Champ, Alexis Champ, Hannah Champ and Luke Champ; two sisters, Judy Snodgrass and husband, Rick of Kingsport, and Barbara Sue Parrish of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Charles Kilbourne and Rev. Homer Roller officiating.
The graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Community United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 834, Kingsport, TN 37662.
