James W." Bill" Rector, 75, of Blackley Creek Community entered into eternal rest Saturday January 26, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born and has been a resident of Washington County all of his life. Mr. Rector retired following 35 years of service with Burlington Industries.
Bill was a lifetime farmer and served in the United States Army. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rector; daughter, Mamie Jewel Lowe; parents, Milburn and Margaret Rector; and sister, Mamie Rector.
Surviving are his sons, Mike Rector and his wife, Kathy, Jimmy Rector and his wife, Gail, both of Limestone; very special son-in-law, Allen "Turtle" Lowe, Limestone; four grandchildren, Selina Blevins and husband, Chris, Allen Rector, Sarah Rector, and Ashley Rector; two great-grandchildren, Christina and Austin Blevins; special sister, Mavis Rupert, Fall Branch, sisters, Helen Lemmons, Kingsport, Peggy Walker, Limestone, and Shirley Chase, Johnson City; brother, Harlan Rector, Jonesborough and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Allen Lowe, and Charles A. "Bit" Keys officiating. Music will be provided by Dennis Garber.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Minister Wayne Boswell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Allen Rector, Chris Blevins, Gary Rupert, Allen Lowe, Dale Keffer, and Terry Joe McMackin. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Blevins, Harold Rupert, Norman Dickerson, Ben "Boy" Rogers, Ralph Martin, Gordie McNeil, Jerry Lee Ward, and special friends, Jerry and Vicky Dickerson.
