James H. "Jim" Richardson

James H. Richardson, 70, Kingsport passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, following a brief illness with cancer. Jim was born in Wise County, VA, but lived in Kingsport most of his life. He was a 1963 graduate of Sullivan High School, where he played both basketball and baseball. He retired from AGC after more than 30 years. Jim loved to play golf having played locally for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; his parents, C.D. and Ruth Richardson; brothers, Kenneth "Yogi" Richardson, and Jerry L. Richardson; and good friend Leonard "Hambone" Melear.

Jim is survived by two step-sons, Talmadge Bridges and wife, Karen, and Scott Bridges; several step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arline Ferguson and Rita Kelley, both of Kingsport, TN; two sisters-in-law, Sharron Richardson, Kingsport, TN, and Carmen Richardson, Church Hill, TN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, special friend, Leonard "Ham Bone" Melear.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.

It was Jim's wishes to be cremated.
