JAMES A. SCISSOM
James Alton "Tootlum" Scissom, 71, Kingsport, died at his home Sunday March 15, 2009 after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Alton and Louise Scissom.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Virginia Scissom; daughters, Sherri Elizabeth Pollack and husband, Wayne, Kingsport, and Terri Louise Gates, Milford, OH; son, Christopher James Scissom and wife, Karen June, Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Danielle Scissom, Shaun Scissom, Luke Pollack, Lance Pollack, Patrick Gates, and Matthew Gates; sister, Altalene Myers, Chattanooga, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Dr. Greg Burton and Rev. Susan Lankford Anderson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #3/265. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Ball, Ken Goforth, Grady Mullican, Dean Mullican, Herman Carrick, and Bobby Lynn Stinnet.
