James (Jim) Markham Taylor, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Orchard View Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. Jim was a member of the United States Army Reserves. Jim grew up in Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School. He worked for Carlson Machine and Tool Company, JB Lansing, and retired from TA Instrument Company and returned to northeast Tennessee in 1986. Jim was a member of Fall Branch United Methodist Church for many years and was a loving, caring and kind husband and father. He was a longtime resident of Fall Branch and a loved and respected member of the community. Jim was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. He will be remembered as one of the kindest most caring men in the community and will truly be missed by all. A special thanks to the caregivers and friends at Orchard View Rehabilitation Center for their love and care for Jim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, HR Taylor, and Margaret Christine Wunder; daughter, Kelly; and his wife of 34 years, Lynell Taylor, whom he cherished.
Jim is survived by his sister, JoAnn (Jody) Shackelford and special brother-in-law Jim; daughters, Danielle Bustos, Teresa Johnston, and Carolyn Faries; son, Alex Taylor; and two granddaughters, Macie White and Teighlor Bustos.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the family will hold a memorial service and graveside service at Fall Branch United Methodist Church and cemetery at a later date.
